ServiceNow adds vibe coding to EmployeeWorks
ServiceNow has updated its EmployeeWorks solution with tools aimed at providing employees with the ability to build the AI agents their jobs demand. The company has added two productivity assistants to the platform, with one designed to aid with research by investigating complex questions across internal and external sources in real time.
Meanwhile, the calendaring assistant integrates directly with calendar systems, and can act as a smart scheduler, resolving conflicts, reserving rooms, adding conferencing links and conducting other tasks.
The assistant can, for example, be used to schedule quarterly one-on-ones with teams on days that minimise disruptions to their project work, or finding the most convenient day to bring the entire team together for a one-day workshop. In addition, ServiceNow has introduced the ability for employees to build and deploy productivity routines designed to run in the background, helping eliminate the need to manually repeat the same tasks. Employees can describe what they want to automate without needing to understand backend systems, API integrations or data models.
The company has also introduced ToolSmith, an agentic developer environment that promises to be able to enable developers to vibe code enterprise-grade AI tools in minutes by simply describing what they want to accomplish using natural language. The solution is trained on over 75,000 APIs, and has been trained to build tools for AI agents that are optimised for token efficiency and reliability. ServiceNow said the solution can also identify what to build next by scanning through logs to find opportunities to fix, improve or invent new workflows.
ServiceNow is also introducing pre-built productivity assistants for HR service delivery, talent management, HR business partners and managers, while enabling customers to build their own specialised assistants for or contextual, nuanced or persona-based work.
ServiceNow Chief People and AI Enablement Officer Jacqui Canney said the additions are built around enabling employees to build AI without coding skills, and to circumvent the IT backlogs, developer constraints, vendor lock-in and fragmented tools that prevent those closest to the work from building AI solutions that take secure actions.
“AI’s real promise is to close the gap between intention and action,” she said. “This era demands that business leaders redesign work around their customers’ needs. When your technology supports that goal, your employees spend less time on coordination and more time solving customer problems that require human judgement. ServiceNow EmployeeWorks makes that shift possible.”
ServiceNow Employee Experience Group SVP Bhavin Shah added that combining agentic planning with auditable workflows has resulted in “an operating system for the employee experience, connecting employees to the full power of the ServiceNow AI platform across any business application or channel, in any language, which can be ready for the enterprise on day one”.
