UNSW to provide vouchers for cybersecurity SMEs
The University of New South Wales, in partnership with the NSW Government, is offering up to $50,000 of matched funding for technology-rich start-ups, scale-ups or small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as part of its COVID-19 TechVoucher program. Recipients will collaborate with the University of NSW to accelerate the commercialisation of innovative R&D products and services that address the many disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The TechVouchers fund a range of activities, including access to research facilities and equipment such as electron microscopes and medical imaging. Other activities funded by the TechVouchers include product or process design, such as engineering or technical design expertise to determine prototype structure, function or materials, and validating or demonstrating the technical capabilities of a product, process or technology, including clinical trials and in-market validation. The TechVouchers can also be used to fund toxicology studies on materials that could be incorporated into a new product, for the testing and certification for supply of products and to enhance existing product capabilities or enable entry to international markets.
Up to $50,000 in matched funding is available, with Stream 1 (for smaller R&D projects lasting up to six months) receiving a maximum of $25,000 in matched funding. Stream 2, consisting of larger R&D projects lasting up to 12 months, can receive a maximum of $50,000 in matched funding. A TechVoucher will also fund up to 50% of the UNSW invoice to the maximum value of the voucher. Applications close at 5:00 pm on 29 October 2021.
