Check Point establishes Auckland PoP

Check Point Software Technologies has expanded its presence in New Zealand with the launch of a local data residency instance of its Check Point Harmony Secure Access Service Edge solution.

The company says the launch of a point of presence (PoP) in Auckland will help New Zealand customers ensure compliance with data sovereignty, security and privacy standards including the New Zealand Privacy Amendment Act 2025 and the nation’s Minimum Cyber Security Standards.

The Auckland PoP has been built with redundancy and autoscaling capabilities at the outset to help maintain uninterrupted services. Customers will be able to take advantage of high-availability clusters, full-mesh interconnectivity and secure tunnels to ensure there is no single point of failure, Check Point said.

Check Point said the PoP is powered by AI and machine learning to ensure it can proactively block threats such as malware and phishing, and detect anomalous network behaviour. Each PoP enforces zero trust network access policies to allow only authorised users and devices to access resources.

“This PoP expansion is particularly significant for the New Zealand market, where businesses are increasingly adopting cloud-based solutions and remote work models,” said David Caspari, Managing Director ANZ Check Point Software Technologies. “The local PoP eliminates the need for backhauling traffic to distant data centres, ensuring faster access to critical applications and services.

“With the ability to dynamically monitor and optimise network performance, the Check Point SASE network guarantees consistent, high-quality connectivity for users in New Zealand and beyond.”
