LevelBlue launches local SOC in Sydney

Managed security service provider LevelBlue has launched a security operations centre in Sydney to service critical infrastructure and other Australian organisations.

The SOC will provide organisations with local security expertise including access to onshore security analysts, local escalation pathways and expert advice on complying with local regulations, backed by LevelBlue’s global threat intelligence capabilities, according to the company.

Critical infrastructure organisations will also be able to take advantage of the capabilities to help meet compliance with their obligations under the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 as well as other requirements. Under the legislation, regulated entities may be required to report critical cyber incidents within 12 hours and other cyber incidents within 72 hours. Applicable entities must also adopt, maintain and comply with a written critical infrastructure risk management program. The SOC can also help organisations achieve and maintain compliance with the Australian Signals Directorate’s Essential Eight security requirements.

The Sydney SOC will provide vendor-agnostic managed security services as well as threat intelligence delivered by local and global security teams. It will be staffed by local analysts and provide clearly defined escalation pathways.

LevelBlue regional director for growth and performance Jo Salisbury said Australian organisations want a security partner that understands the local regulatory environment and can quickly act when an incident occurs.
