Cyber defence workshop to be run by DST

DST Group and Data61 are currently working together on cyber research and will hold a networking event for those in the defence industry.

Defence is broadening its partnerships within the Australian innovation community, particularly in the priority areas of the Next Generation Technologies Fund. Cybersecurity is a key next-generation technology, and one which has broader national importance.

More than 10 universities are working with DST Group on collaborative research projects in the cyber domain.

The national cyber innovation community continues to rapidly evolve, and Defence will be better positioned to leverage that community as the connections between participants are strengthened.

Members of the public are invited to join colleagues from academia and industry, DST, Data61 and the ACSGN (Australian Cyber Security Growth Network) for a networking workshop designed to grow and strengthen connections within the cyber innovation community — in particular, those with potential relevance to Defence.

Participants will each conduct five-minute ‘pitches’ on their research and development capabilities that might have Defence application, and there will be opportunity to workshop those capability areas where synergies emerge.

This one-day event will be held at the National Wine Centre, Adelaide, on 28 November 2017.

Participation is by expression of interest, providing no more than one paragraph detailing capabilities and/or interests in the broad research themes.
