CyberCX to be bought out by Accenture

Global technology consultancy Accenture has arranged to buy CyberCX, one of Australia’s largest cybersecurity companies. The deal represents Accenture’s largest cybersecurity acquisition to date, and is expected to significantly bolster the company’s cybersecurity services in the Asia–Pacific region.

CyberCX was established in Melbourne in 2019 and has grown to employ around 1400 professionals across Australia and New Zealand. The company operates a network of security operations centres across the two countries.

Services on offer include offensive security and cyber physical security, crisis management, threat intelligence, and managed detection and response, as well as strategic advisory, identity, cloud and network security.

CyberCX also operates AI-powered platforms that deliver security services including threat detection and response, as well as the CyberCX Academy for training and education. The company meanwhile offers accreditation under the Infosec Registered Assessors’ Program. CyberCX has an ecosystem of partnerships across companies including Microsoft, Palo Alto Networks and CrowdStrike.

Accenture Cybersecurity Global Lead Paolo Dal Cin said the company plans to leverage the acquisition to offer advanced security capabilities.

“CyberCX and Accenture share a mission to harness the power of cyber to help our clients securely navigate change, accelerate business reinvention and build resilience against evolving threats,” he said. “By combining Accenture’s agentic AI capabilities with CyberCX’s strong market leadership, innovative offerings and trusted C-suite and government relationships, we will enable clients across Asia–Pacific to transform cybersecurity into a strategic advantage.”

CyberCX CEO John Paitaridis added that the company is “immensely proud” to have become one of the top providers of security services in Asia–Pacific.

“Joining Accenture’s global cybersecurity organisation enables our exceptional people to combine forces with global capabilities and provide world-leading cybersecurity services to an even greater number of clients across Asia–Pacific as we accelerate our growth in the region,” he said. “Our shared mission for helping clients stay ahead of emerging threats and build resilience makes this a force multiplier.”

Accenture has completed 20 security acquisitions since 2015 as it moved to expand its cybersecurity capabilities.

The deal remains subject to regulatory approvals. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
