F5 launches tool for managing employee AI use

Application security company F5 has launched a tool for providing organisations with visibility and control into the use of AI by their employees.

F5 Workforce AI security is an agentless solution for providing organisations with visibility and policy control into workforce AI activity, including the actions taken by AI agents on users’ behalf.

F5’s recent 2026 State of Application Strategy Report found that 66% of organisations are already permitting AI to adjust policies and configurations, and AI agents are gaining access to enterprise data, permissions and systems as employees delegate more work to AI. To address this, F5 Workforce AI Security is designed to allow organisations to discover AI services in use across browsers and developer tools and apply controls based on service, licence tier and data policy, among other criteria.

AI actions can be attributed to individual users and agents, and the solution can inspect and classify tool calls across model context protocol servers and supported agent tools and apply policy to allow or block actions based on identity, access risk and sensitive data exposure before they can be run. Network-based controls can meanwhile be applied across browsers, command line interfaces and AI agents without requiring another endpoint client.

The solution forms part of F5’s AI Security Platform, which the company launched in June and added AI gateway capabilities to in August.

F5 Chief Product Officer Kunal Anand said the platform aims to address employees’ changing habits as AI is embedded deeper into the enterprise.

“Employees aren’t just asking AI questions anymore. They’re handing work to AI agents that can reach into enterprise systems, call tools and change data on their behalf,” he said. “Workforce AI Security applies intent-based guardrails in the network path to understand the context of AI interactions and enforce policy before risky actions occur. With this addition, the F5 AI Security Platform gives organisations one set of controls across how their workforce uses AI and how they build and deploy AI, wherever it runs.”
