Cybersecurity plan launched by ACSGN

Australia’s cybersecurity capabilities will be increased after the launch of a new industry-led strategy.

The Australian Cyber Security Growth Network’s Cyber Security Sector Competitiveness Plan is designed to help Australia’s cybersecurity solutions sector realise its full potential.

“The plan highlights the great capabilities we can leverage into the future and immediate improvements to processes and structures that will help us to capture opportunities that come with the growing domestic and global need for cybersecurity solutions,” said Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science Arthur Sinodinos.

“Australia is home to some amazing talent, but our cybersecurity sector is small. We need to grow the sector, scale up its activities and find ways to collaborate effectively in order for our country to make its mark in this global field.

“The plan sets out how we can realise this vision, but it’s important to stress it’s not just for the Growth Network or the government to act on.

“Growing an Australian cybersecurity sector that is agile, innovative and globally competitive will involve support for the plan and collaboration by everyone in the cybersecurity ecosystem.”

The Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Cyber Security, Dan Tehan, said the sector competitiveness plan was another key milestone achieved in the week that celebrates the first anniversary of Australia’s Cyber Security Strategy.

“The government has made cybersecurity a priority because it is central to ensuring our national security,” Tehan said.

“Being a leader in cybersecurity will also provide opportunities for business to expand and innovate and for Australians to forge careers in the growing cybersecurity sector.”
