Darktrace secures extended airline contract
Cybersecurity AI company Darktrace has secured an extension of its cybersecurity services contract with one of the world’s top airlines.
The airline, which Darktrace has not named but said operates nearly a thousand flights every day to over 100 destinations, uses the Darktrace Enterprise Immune System and Antigena Network to protect the business from sophisticated cyber threats.
Darktrace CEO Poppy Gustafsson said the aviation sector is a popular target for cyber attacks due to the high volume of sensitive data airline companies hold and accrue on a daily basis. This includes passenger manifest data of interest to intelligence agencies, as well as high-value transaction data that attracts cybercriminals.
She added that the risk of fraud and abuse has never been higher due to the major disruptions to travel caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, while the acceleration of contact-free boarding and other digital services has introduced yet another level of risk.
“Darktrace is delighted to be working with this major airline to ensure it stays protected in today’s complex threat environment,” she said.
“As the aviation industry battles new threats targeting the technologies which are so critical to its business operations, the role of AI in containing and fighting back against these attacks has never been more important.”
