Entrust enhances platform to support stage 2 AML laws
Identity security solutions provider Entrust has expanded its identity verification solution in response to the introduction of Tranche 2 of Australia’s Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing regime.
Under the enhanced regime, businesses in a wider range of industries designated at high risk of criminal exploitation now need to meet increased obligations conducting risk assessments related to money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation financing risks, establishing policies to manage and mitigate identified risks, and appointing a fit and proper compliance officer responsible for implementing the program. The wider range of industries captured under the legislation includes real estate companies, and legal and account service providers. The regime will require organisations to meet stronger customer identity due diligence expectations with effective fraud prevention.
In response, Entrust has integrated Australia’s Document Verification Service (DVS) into its identity verification workflow, which combines automated document verification, biometric verification and trusted data sources. The platform supports identity verification through government-backed verification of passports, driver licences and visas through the DVS, as well as advanced identity verification combining biometric checks with trusted data services.
Other capabilities include fraud detection using AI-driven signals and liveness verification, risk-based workflows to accelerate customer onboarding, and optional ongoing monitoring to support compliance due diligence over time.
Entrust Regional VP of Identity Security Solutions Harvinder Singh said regulatory reform like the introduction of the enhanced regime requires organisations to rethink how trust is established from the initial interaction.
“By treating identity verification as the first moment of truth in onboarding, organisations can prevent fraud early and protect the digital experiences customers rely on,” he said. “As a trusted identity verification provider, we support both local and global businesses with compliance, helping them to meet regulatory requirements while streamlining onboarding and enabling secure, seamless digital journeys.”
