Largest global data breaches captured

The world’s biggest data breaches have been recorded in an infographic, showing the increase in these breaches over time.

The infographic depicts selected losses that are greater than 30,000 records.

In 2004 there were just a handful of data breaches, but these have increased drastically in more recent times.

Causes of data leaks include accidental publication, configuration error, hacks, inside job, leak, lost or stolen computers, lost or stolen media, poor security and vulnerability.
