Mimecast unveils Human Risk Management Platform

Cybersecurity company Mimecast has unveiled a Human Risk Management Platform that features a first-of-its-kind Human Risk Dashboard. The new platform is designed to help customers assess and mitigate employee risk, one of the largest security vulnerabilities facing many organisations.

It aims to provide unprecedented visibility into an organisation’s risk profile, including scoring individual users’ risk. The platform will offer preventative controls and direct actions capable of mitigating risks associated with human behaviour such as errant clicks on malicious links and attachments, or inadvertently sharing a document.

The associated dashboard is designed to quantify attack factors measuring the frequency and severity of inbound threats. Mimecast plans to add capabilities including analysis of inbound phishing attempts, blocked malware and malicious web content loaded by visited websites.

Another key pillar of the platform is the human risk awareness training offering Mimecast Engage, which has been built by integrating technology acquired through Mimecast’s purchase of Elevate Security late last year with Mimecast’s awareness training product. Mimecast Engage aims to help customers gain visibility into employees’ risky behaviours and adapt interventions to each individual’s unique risk profile.

Mimecast Senior Director of Sales Engineering in APAC Garrett O’Hara said the new platform aims to address some of the biggest security challenges faced by enterprises today.

“Our ambition at Mimecast is to revolutionise how businesses of all sizes prevent human-centred security dangers from getting in the way of critical business activities. 8% of users create 80% of the security incidents, and we have seen some high-profile cyber attacks in Australia of late due to human error,” he said.

“By creating the new Human Risk Management Platform, organisations are equipped with the visibility they need to make informed security decisions and provide contextual training targeted for those that need it, with fewer training interruptions for those that don’t.”
