NEC opens Security Intelligence Centre in Adelaide
NEC has opened a $4.38 million Global Security Intelligence Centre in Adelaide to augment its worldwide cybersecurity network.
The new facility will work with NEC’s similar facilities in Japan, Brazil, Singapore, the US and Austria. It will create around 50 new highly skilled jobs for South Australia.
“NEC Australia’s new Global Security Intelligence Centre [is] built and operates to high security certifications and standards required by governments and enterprises for the management and support of their data and applications,” NEC Australia COO Mike Barber said.
“One of the highlights of the Global Security Centre is that it provides a vast suite of security services to local, national and international customers from Adelaide. The centre is serving a market much larger than just South Australia with specialist skilled people located in Adelaide.”
South Australian Investment and Trade Minister Martin Hamilton-Smith added that NEC’s investment “will help South Australia achieve global prominence in the cybersecurity field and complement the Smart City initiatives already underway in Adelaide”.
NEC Australia last year secured a contract to provide facial recognition software for the South Australian police.
NEC has worked closely with Investment Attraction South Australia on its development activities in the state. The government agency has attracted more than $1 billion in capital investment and helped create more than 5200 jobs in the state in just over 18 months.
