Obsidian Security opens Sydney data centre
Software-as-a-Service security specialist Obsidian Security has opened a new data centre in Sydney built on the Amazon Web Services platform.
The new platform region will enable Obsidian customers to deploy the company’s security solutions while maintaining data sovereignty.
Obsidian also recently invested in opening a technical centre of excellence in Australia, as well as in expanding its local teams of DevOps, technical account managers, quality assurance and cybersecurity research employees. The company was co-founded by an Australian, former Telstra CISO Glenn Chisholm.
“Organisations have moved business-critical data to SaaS for easier and faster business operations. However, traditional on-premise security is falling short of securing these apps, making the safety and locality of this data an urgent necessity,” Chisholm said. “Without the right security in place, attackers can simply steal one set of login credentials and gain access to your entire network of SaaS applications.
“Our platform is the only solution that combines application posture with identity security to offer customers complete SaaS security. And with this new data centre, customers can confidently adopt Obsidian to protect their entire SaaS ecosystem without data leaving Australia.”
Chisholm said Obsidian’s investment in the Asia–Pacific market is driven by factors such as the importance local businesses place on security.
