Sophos launches security advisory services in Australia
Sophos has announced the Australian launch of Advisory Services, the company’s set of security services designed to help organisations spot and fix weaknesses before they can be exploited.
The service offerings include External Penetration Testing, which simulates an attacker trying to breach an organisation’s perimeter from the outside. The Internal Penetration Testing service meanwhile simulates insider threats or the actions of attackers who have already breached an organisation’s perimeter, with a focus on systems, applications and data.
Wireless Network Penetration Testing specifically assesses the security of an organisation’s Wi-Fi networks and infrastructure, while Web Application Security Assessment tests an organisation’s web applications for security and design vulnerabilities.
These services are provided by dedicated testers with security expertise panning security research, threat intelligence, law enforcement, military and other backgrounds. These capabilities were acquired by Sophos with the recent acquisition of SecureWorks.
Sophos Senior Director for Advisory Services Jake Dorval said today’s threat actors are increasingly skilled at exploiting even small cracks in an organisation’s defences.
“With Sophos Advisory Services, we give customers a proactive advantage — helping them find and fix weaknesses before attackers can exploit them,” he said. “Backed by real-time insights from Sophos X-Ops threat intelligence, our experts enable organisations to strengthen resilience, meet compliance requirements and build lasting trust with stakeholders.”
During Sophos’s recent State of Ransomware research, 41% of organisations said gaps in their defences left them exposed to attack.
