Wasabi launches cloud storage emissions trading tool
Cloud storage company Wasabi Technologies has announced a sustainability initiative designed to help its partners measure and address the carbon emissions associated with their customers’ cloud storage usage.
Wasabi Impact Circle is designed to enable partners and managed service providers to help customers track their storage-related carbon footprint. They can then use the Zero Circle sustainable finance marketplace to purchase carbon credits from verified climate projects across the world.
The solution builds on Wasabi’s existing partnership with Zero Circle, which includes the operation of a carbon footprint calculator that enables users to upload their Wasabi invoice and determine their emissions costs in real time.
Users can choose portfolios aligned with their specific sustainability goals and climate priorities, and the portfolios can be prioritised based on simplicity, highest integrity or future-focused innovation. Zero Circle will manage the sourcing, evaluation and allocation of carbon credits within each portfolio.
Wasabi VP of Product Marketing Drew Schlussel said the launch of the offering reinforces the company’s commitment to providing sustainable cloud storage solutions.
“Through the Wasabi Impact Circle, customers can transform emissions into investments in projects that drive measurable environmental progress,” he said.
The solution is available now through the Wasabi Account Control Manager.
