Appian releases new low-code automation platform

Appian has unveiled the latest version of the Appian Low-code Automation Platform, featuring enhanced AI-driven intelligent document processing (IDP), new design guidance and developer collaboration features, and enhanced DevSecOps capabilities. The new release is designed to expand the boundaries of the low-code industry with the introduction of low-code data, a new code-free approach to unifying enterprise data.

Appian provides complete automation, enabling people, existing systems, data, bots and AI to operate in a single workflow. Complete automation fuels enterprise-wide workflows to achieve material business results.

“We were able to build our first Appian RPA [robotic process automation] process in just four days, integrated with our people processes and Appian AI. Simplifying data design is going to have a huge impact for us, so I am looking forward to the new release with low-code data,” said Matt Richard, CIO at Laborers International Union of North American (LiUNA), a 500,000-member union of workers in construction, postal and other industrials.

The new platform enhancements support the Appian Guarantee, which aims to deliver a customer’s first project live in eight weeks with a flat services fee. New capabilities in the latest version of the Appian platform include Low-code Data, IDP, Low-code RPA, Low-code Apps and Low-code DevSecOps.

Low-code Data enables users to integrate data that is sourced from anywhere, without needing to migrate it. Users can visually combine, extend and model relationships between varied data sources, and automatically optimise datasets for performance, without coding or database programming.

Intelligent document processing (IDP) improves efficiency through the processing of large volumes of unstructured data. IDP now features native optical character recognition (OCR) to extract data from documents without third-party software or services. IDP can also eliminate manual processing in any workflow, in combination with the Appian native, pre-trained and constantly learning AI models.

Low-code RPA centrally manages and monitors Appian bots, third-party bots and end-to-end processes to increase scale and performance. With Low-code RPA Windows, customers can automate tasks faster and download additional libraries of actions directly from the Appian AppMarket.

New developer collaboration capabilities included in Appian’s Low-code Apps let organisations build and change apps and automations faster through visual development. Enhanced design guidance also optimises app performance, security and testing, thereby boosting developer productivity.

From security certifications to comprehensive Low-code DevSecOps, Appian helps customers innovate, compete and grow. The new release continues to enhance simplified movement of software packages between development, test and production environments with one-click compare and deploy to accelerate secure, governed deployments.

The latest version of the Appian Low-code Automation Platform will be generally available in June 2021.
