DigiCert approved for Matter compliance attestation
DigiCert has announced that its Root Certificate Authority platform has received the first approval from the Connectivity Standards Alliance for Matter device compliance attestation.
DigiCert’s root CA platform will be provided to smart home manufacturers looking to earn the Matter seal for their device.
Certified Matter devices are designed to be cross-compatible allowing IP-based networking and communication across smart home devices and ecosystems. Matter has been developed by the industry-led Connectivity Standards Alliance as a standard for authenticating device identity that only allows Matter-certified devices to connect to the network.
DigiCert VP of IoT Security Mike Nelson said by partnering with DigiCert, smart home product makers can now accelerate time to market in achieving Matter compliance, while avoiding the costs of maintenance, staffing and ongoing compliance required for independent certification.
The DigiCert IoT Device Manager will also simplify management of device attestation certificates and product attestation intermediates.
“The introduction of Matter to the smart home industry is an exciting move that improves interoperability between devices and raises the bar for security, creating a more efficient and secure experience for consumers,” Nelson said.
“DigiCert has been involved in building the Matter standard for several years, and we’ve already helped many leading companies evaluate their device attestation procedures using our test Certificate Authority. Now, with our PAA approved for production, we are ready to help customers save time in achieving Matter security compliance.”
