Digital Tech Hub to improve access to telecomms support
Regional, rural and remote businesses could soon have better access to telecommunications support with the development of a new ‘Digital Technology Hub’.
The Australian Government-run hub is designed to provide “independent and factual information” that can help users “solve telecommunications issues and make the most of available technologies”, in line with recommendations from the 2018 Regional Telecommunications Review, according to an announcement on the Department of Communications website.
It will also offer information on digital applications for regional business sectors.
“The hub forms part of the Regional Connectivity Program which is designed to target investment to local priorities to maximise economic opportunities and region-wide benefits for regional, rural and remote Australians,” the announcement said.
The Department is consulting on the hub’s design and implementation, with submissions open until 21 February 2020.
