Equinix to expand Equinix Metal to Melbourne
Equinix has announced expansions to its Equinix Metal bare metal platform for cloud builders as it prepares to expand availability of the platform to Melbourne and five other metro areas in 2022.
The company has announced new deals with Intel, AMD and Ampere to expand the hardware line-up of Equinix Metal to include the latest processes. Another partnership with NVIDIA will be focused on bringing the NVIDIA LaunchPad AI infrastructure access program to the platform.
The Equinix Metal service will also be expanded with a new line-up of workload-optimised servers for the company’s bare metal customers, as well as hybrid multicloud services on demand via the Nutanix Cloud Platform.
Meanwile Equinix has announced plans to expand availability of Equinix Metal to Melbourne, Atlanta, Mntreal, Osaka, Helsinki and Stockholm in 2022. This will bring the total number of metros up to 24, with Equinix having launched in Sydney and other markets earlier this year.
Equinix Metal Managing Director Zac Smith said the company is excited to be expanding the Equinix Metal service.
“As the world’s digital infrastructure company, Equinix delivers foundational infrastructure across clouds and to the edge, interconnecting them all. When customers combine this foundation with Equinix Metal’s on-demand, state-of-the-art silicon and enterprise solutions, alongside Equinix’s efforts toward its goal of becoming climate neutral globally by 2030, they no longer have to trade peace of mind for power and performance,” he said.
