IDC announces 2019 Digital Transformation Awards finalists

The finalists for the International Data Corporation’s (IDC) 2019 Digital Transformation (DX) Awards for Australia and New Zealand (NZ) were announced last week, recognising organisations’ achievements in digitising parts of their business using digital and disruptive technologies.

Finalists were selected by local and international IDC analysts based on their projects’ agility, commitment to digital transformation, innovativeness and whether they demonstrated a digital culture. Category-specific attributes were also considered, such as DX advocacy, data utilisation, ecosystem management, business process impact and ability to foster a future-ready workforce.

IDC Australia and NZ Research Director and judge Louise Francis said that “the finalists represent the cream of the crop among digital leadership in Australia and New Zealand business”.

Finalists for this year’s ‘DX Leader’ award include Rebbecca Kerr, Roy Hill (Australia), Jonathon Thorpe, Digital Transformation Agency (Australia) and Nick Whitehouse, McCarthyFinch (NZ), for “playing a determining role in setting the vision and being responsible for the execution of the DX initiative”. They also had to set strategies for continuous transition from old to new technology and experimental to operational equipment in the context of DX, empowering employees and enabling innovations that have been integrated into the organisation.

Meanwhile, BNZ (NZ), McCarthyFinch (NZ) and Waitemata District Health Board (NZ) have been named finalists in the ‘Talent Accelerator’ division “for leveraging digital interactions and collaboration, connections, relationships and tools in the workplace”.

Citibank (Australia and NZ), McCarthyFinch (NZ) and Sportsbet (Australia) are this year’s ‘Information Visionary’ finalists, having shown a “strong focus on extracting and developing the value and utility of information relative to customers, markets, transactions, services, products, physical assets and business experiences”.

Aruma (Australia), Dominos Pizza (Australia) and Roy Hill (Australia) were named finalists for the ‘Omni Experience Innovator’ award, “for transforming operations based on a customer-centric model focused on attracting and growing customer loyalty and advocacy”.

Finally, ANZ (Australia), BNZ (NZ), McCarthyFinch (NZ) and Nestlé Australia (Australia) are in line for the ‘Operating Model Mastery’ award, for “enabling discernible and measurable excellence in the organisation’s ability to make business operations more responsive and effective by leveraging digitally connected products/services, assets, people and trading partners”.

Winners will be announced at the DX Awards evening on 5 September and go on to represent Australia and NZ in the regional awards.
