Kyndryl launches agentic AI services for IBM z/OS

Enterprise technology services provider Kyndryl has announced a line of agentic AI mainframe services for IBM z/OS customers.

The solutions have been designed to utilise agentic AI and hybrid IT computing services to accelerate applications and solutions development, while speeding decision-making and simplifying complex processes across application and infrastructure management. According to Kyndryl, the services can be combined with the agentic ingestion capabilities of the company’s agentic AI framework to enable orchestration of agents and workflows.

The services include Kyndryl AI Assistant for Z, an AI-powered mainframe knowledge base that has been integrated with the Kyndryl Bridge integration platform to enable intelligent automation, predictive analytics, and insights across mainframe infrastructure and applications.

Kyndryl’s Global Practice Leader for Core Enterprise and zCloud, Hassan Zamat, said the company is in a position to help customers speed and scale AI processing capabilities across their mainframe environments.

“Kyndryl is leading the way in providing world-class agentic AI-enabled delivery services to customers that will instil confidence in the mainframe’s role as an engine of innovation for global enterprises,” Zamat said. “We are committed to combining the power of our skilled delivery practitioners with agentic AI to provide differentiated experiences and outcomes to help drive growth for our customers.”

Skyla Loomis, GM of IBM Z Software, added that the collaboration with Kyndryl is helping enterprises bring AI capabilities to the core systems that run their business.

“Kyndryl’s newest AI services empower clients to deploy advanced AI on the mainframes that form the backbone of their operations to accelerate decision-making and drive operational agility,” she said.

Kyndryl’s recent 2025 State of Mainframe Modernisation Survey found that 82% of respondents from Australia and New Zealand have implemented or plan to implement AI in their mainframe environment. The top perceived benefits of the move include increasing business agility (43%), reducing vulnerability to human error (31%) and saving money (25%). But the survey also found that 72% of local respondents have difficulty finding the right skills within their organisation to manage the transition.
