Metaverse to be as transformative as the internet: AVEVA
Software as a service provider AVEVA has decided to accelerate its investment in the industrial metaverse, due to the belief that it will be as transformative for businesses as the internet has been.
Following AVEVA’s acquisition by Schneider Electric earlier this year, the company has embarked on initiatives including expanding its provision of digital twins to inform business strategy and decisions.
AVEVA VP for Pacific Alexy Lebedev said the industrial metaverse is expected to “redefine the industrial landscape by bridging the gap between the virtual and the physical world”.
He urged businesses to embrace the metaverse or risk being left behind by competitors.
“The metaverse will support agile teams, enabling communication and collaboration across operations and the globe. It connects the most important resource of all, people, in a virtual, immersive environment powered by real-time data,” he said.
“When you bring industrial information in context together with the scope and scale of cloud, you get a complete digital twin. It’s by visualising this digital twin that you create the metaverse.”
Other anticipated benefits of the metaverse will be overcoming corporate silos, and helping companies model, predict and improve operations from anywhere in the world by using a combination of AI and human monitoring.
AVEVA offers digital twins for an entire asset lifecycle from engineering through to operations and maintenance. Schneider Electric has launched its own next-generation universal automation offer, EcoStruxure Automation Expert, in collaboration with its new acquisition.
