UNSW to hire up to 1000 new researchers
The University of New South Wales plans to hire up to 1000 new researchers and PhD scholars in its largest ever recruitment drive to strengthen its capability in fields including AI, telecommunications and data security.
The university has revealed plans to add up to 290 researchers for the UNSW Scientia Fellowship Program, as well as 700 new PhD scholars for the UNSW Scientia PhD Scholarship Scheme.
UNSW plans to add researchers and scholars across all faculties and at all levels of the university, and has not yet announced the breakdown of new staff per discipline.
But the university revealed that in the engineering faculty, recruitment will focus on researchers with expertise in AI, telecoms, data security, geospatial systems and bioengineering.
More details of the recruitment drive will be announced soon, but academics can register their interest on the UNSW website.
The recruitment push forms part of UNSW’s 2025 strategy, which is a series of steps designed to position UNSW as Australia’s global university.
