Dell adds Nutanix support to private cloud platform
Dell has added Nutanix support to its Dell Private Cloud platform, allowing customers to pair Nutanix with Dell external storage.
The integration will enable joint customers to scale compute and storage independently while maintaining familiar tools, automated lifecycle management, and investment protection across multi-hypervisor environments.
Customers are already able to deploy Nutanix with the Dell PowerFlex software-defined storage platform, with support for the flagship Dell PowerStore scalable all-flash storage array solution coming around the middle of the year.
The Dell Automation Platform will help guide organisations through deployment, administration and lifecycle management across Dell PowerEdge compute and Dell storage. Meanwhile organisations will be able to reuse existing Dell infrastructure to scale workloads as needed without the need to replace hardware.
Dell Technologies VP of Product Management for Private Cloud and AI Solutions Caitlin Gordon said organisations are shifting to disaggregated infrastructure to pursue a strategic advantage.
“With Nutanix support, the economic advantage extends across an organisation’s multi-hypervisor strategy,” she said. “They can not only choose the right platform, they can do it in a way that protects their budget and optimises cost efficiency.”
The Dell Private Cloud platform already supports VMware and Red Hat environments.
According to research from Gartner, 52% of IT leaders are now considering multiple hypervisor options in a bid to avoid vendor lock-in.
