Rubrik and Rackspace launch joint data recovery service

Cybersecurity company Rubrik has partnered with hybrid cloud and AI business Rackspace Technology to jointly provide a fully managed isolated recovery service.

The new service, Rackspace Cyber Recovery Cloud powered by Rubik, is designed to help enterprises ensure business continuity in the event of a cyber attack. It combines Rubrik’s data protection and cyber recovery software with Rackspace’s global data centre footprint and hybrid cloud capabilities to help businesses reduce operational risk in the face of trends such as increasing ransomware threats.

Research from Palo Alto Networks suggests that as ransomware attacks grow more sophisticated, 92% of victims experience data encryption and 60% experience data theft. Traditional backup recovery solutions can take as long as months to restore business operations following such an attack.

To address this trend, Rackspace Cyber Recovery Cloud makes it possible to replicate their validated backups to ensure they remains secure and ready for rapid deployment in the event of a cyber attack. Rubrik can quickly identify clean, safe backup data, while Rackspace can restore critical workloads to an isolated recovery environment within hours.

The companies are recommending that customers looking to deploy the platform should first conduct a complete cyber readiness assessment to identify critical applications and map dependencies, and prioritise workloads based on business impact.

Rackspace CEO Amar Maletira said the launch of the joint solution comes at a critical time as ransomware incidents and compliance risks continue to escalate.

“This strategic partnership with Rubrik fills a recognised gap in the market and delivers something truly unique: the ability to recover data as well as rapidly restore operational capability in a clean, isolated environment in hours rather than days or weeks,” he said.

Customers should then take advantage of the cyber recovery cloud onboarding service, which includes engineers configuring the isolated recovery environment to a customer’s needs and delivering tailored business continuity plans that align with the customer’s recovery targets.
