Veeam extends recovery orchestration to Hyper‍-‍V

Data resilience company Veeam is extending the functionality of its Veeam Data Platform to include recovery orchestration for Microsoft Hyper-V deployments.

The Orchestrator, available to Veeam Data Premium customers, now supports disaster recovery orchestration of Hyper-V machines and orchestrates the recovery of other machines to Hyper-V to support migration from VMware vSphere to the Hyper-V platform.

The expansion will enable organisations to create, manage and test disaster recovery plans in a streamlined manner to ensure effective recovery of data following an outage or disaster.

Users will also be able to migrate new hypervisors to the cloud without needing to adopt a new backup vendor. The platform’s data portability capabilities will enable automated movement of data across platforms that are documented and tested for governance purposes.

Veeam Chief Revenue Officer John Jester said the expanded capabilities support the company’s mission to deliver data resilience to ensure every customer can access their data when and where they need it.

“Data will inevitably be compromised — whether by threat actors or human error — so having a rapid and confident recovery process in place is crucial. Veeam makes sure organisations are ready for the unexpected and that business keeps running regardless,” he said. “This latest release of Orchestrator introduces support for Hyper-V alongside existing support for VMware; it’s part of our commitment to support the systems customers are relying on or adopting.
