Commvault launches tool for recovering DynamoDB tables
Hybrid cloud data protection solutions provider Commvault has launched into general availability a new solution aimed at transforming how organisations recover data from Amazon DynamoDB.
The solution, Clumio Backtrack for Amazon DynamoDB, is designed to provide near-instant rollback and granular recovery for workloads with DynamoDB, one of the most widely used cloud-native NoSQL databases worldwide.
Because DynamoDB deployments contain complex tables that usually have multiple partitions within each table, IT teams would normally prefer to recover just the impacted partitions during an operational disruption. But this is often not possible using traditional methods, with teams having to restore all the data to an entirely new table. This can be a slow and resource-intensive process for organisations managing complex tables which can often have billions of records.
Using Clumio Backtrack for Amazon DynamoDB, teams can instead nearly instantly revert existing DynamoDB tables to a point in time before the disruption, with no reconfiguration needed. Organisations can also recover individual partitions instead of entire tables to reduce recovery costs and times.
Commvault CTO Woon Jong said the approach is a game changer.
“Organisations are building their next-generation cloud and AI applications on DynamoDB,” he said. “Clumio Backtrack removes the friction and risk from database recovery. Now, teams can roll back or restore their data in minutes, not days, and without needing to perform complex, multi-step manual recoveries. This is another example of Commvault leading the charge in resilience and recovery.”
