Cyber professionals urged to help shape future of the profession

A consortium of IT and cybersecurity industry groups have commenced a national consultation series aimed at helping shape how the cybersecurity profession is recognised, supported and developed.

Cyber professionals, employers, educators and aspiring practitioners are being urged to take part in the first national survey before it closes on 9 April.

The ‘CyberPath: Paving the Way Forward for Cyber Professionals’ program is being delivered by a consortium comprising the Australian Computer Society (ACS), the Australian Information Security Association (AISA), the Australian Women in Security Network (AWSN), and the Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre (Aus3C), with support from the federal government.

Industry veteran and former Queensland Government minister Kate Jones has accepted an invitation to chair the CyberPath Steering Committee.

Jones said broad participation in the initiative will be critical to ensuring CyberPath delivers meaningful outcomes for the profession and the nation.

“CyberPath is a national initiative designed to strengthen and professionalise Australia’s cybersecurity workforce. This is an important opportunity for cyber professionals, employers, educators and emerging talent to help shape a stronger future for the sector,” she said.

As well as the consultation, CyberPath will include town hall sessions and stakeholder engagement. This will begin with a webinar to be held on 10 April.

Participants can share their views in the first round of consultation here.
