Epson again makes the top 100 Global Innovators list

The Top 100 Global Innovators have been announced for 2017, with Epson making the list for the seventh consecutive year.

Epson holds a significant number of patents globally and is working with patent agencies in 20 countries or more at any given time. In the patent rankings for 2016 Epson ranked seventh in Japan for the number of patents awarded, 15th in the US and 16th in China among foreign companies.

“Epson’s business strategies and intellectual property strategies are closely linked under our Epson 25 Corporate Vision. The acquisition of high-quality patents that contribute to our business is a high priority for us,” said Toshiya Takahata, executive officer and general administrative manager of Epson’s Intellectual Property Division.

“We are constantly seeking to realise products and services that exceed the expectations of our customers and society, and believe we have been honoured as a global innovator out of an appreciation for our research and development efforts and intellectual property activities. Moving forward, we will continue to develop intellectual property that underpins the creation of competitive products.”

Clarivate Analytics, which compiles the report, analyses intellectual property and patent trends based on proprietary data to determine the world’s most innovative corporations and institutions. Its analysis covers four main criteria: patent volume, success, globalisation, and influence. Begun in 2011, the Top 100 Global Innovators report is now in its seventh year.
