French cyber tech firm Squad to join Lot Fourteen

French cyber technology firm Squad is set to land in Adelaide innovation precinct Lot Fourteen, as part of a plan to increase its reach in the Asia–Pacific region.

The move, which will create up to 40 new jobs over the next three years, is being touted by South Australian Premier Steven Marshall as “another major vote of confidence” in the state’s “high-tech and high-growth” cyber, defence and space sectors.

Squad currently employs 500 people, providing specialist IT advice in cybersecurity, cloud computing and user experience, and already has 10 to 15 consultants in Australia who are giving “high-level expertise on several defence projects”, according to Squad International Director Antoine Hautin.

“To keep growing, we will have to work closely with local partners, including higher education institutions,” Hautin said.

Fortunately, the Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre is also located at Lot Fourteen, fostering collaboration between universities, researchers and industry to solve problems and develop solutions for global customers.

Squad Australia SC will initially dock in the Defence and Space Landing Pad, while also accessing business support from the SA Landing Pad to establish a permanent Asia–Pacific office.

“To make that first step abroad, for a foreign company like Squad, is no easy feat; so support programs such as a landing pad, which enable us to land and begin hiring and integrating locally, are imperative to our longer-term success,” Squad co-founder and CEO Marc Brua said.
