Macquaries partner to develop research and learning pathways
Macquarie Technology Group and Macquarie University have announced a strategic partnership to support future collaboration across research, technology and innovation. The agreement establishes a framework for the two organisations to collaborate in areas including cloud computing, cybersecurity, data centre engineering and technology policy.
Co-located in the Macquarie Park Innovation District, Macquarie Technology Group says the partnership reflects the deepening engagement between industry and academia that will identify areas where shared expertise can contribute to Australia’s future digital capability and the creation of technology job pathways.
The collaboration will explore opportunities for joint research, industry engagement and knowledge exchange, drawing on Macquarie Technology Group’s experience in data centres, cloud, cybersecurity and telecommunications, and Macquarie University’s research strengths across science, technology, engineering, business and law.
“This partnership will provide Macquarie University students with the opportunity to have hands-on experience working with new data centre and cloud technologies,” said David Tudehope, CEO of Macquarie Technology Group. “Macquarie University students will graduate with the skills and experience that will ensure they are ready for the data centre and cloud jobs of the future that are so important for Australia.”
“We are pleased to announce a significant partnership with Macquarie Technology Group, which promises a range of practical opportunities for our researchers, students and graduates. Our agreement today opens the door to a sophisticated collaboration that will bring state-of-the-art technology to campus,” said Professor S. Bruce Dowton, Vice-Chancellor and President of Macquarie University. “Our aim is to create synergies across our campus for world-class research and industry collaboration, practical learning opportunities for students and graduates, and new teaching spaces for our computing experts.
“This dynamic partnership also supports Macquarie University as a national centre for innovation, enhancing the community of knowledge and expertise that is such a distinctive feature of our parkland precinct. While there is more exciting work to come, this is a very special milestone to celebrate.”
