Microsoft ANZ, ACU team up on digital innovation

Microsoft ANZ has announced a new partnership with the Australian Catholic University aimed at empowering students, the future health and education workforce, and the broader community.

Under the agreement, Microsoft ANZ will work with the university to personalise the higher education experience at ACU through signature pedagogy for enhanced on-campus teaching, and through blended learning and VR experiences for health science and education students.

ACU Dean of Innovation and Industry Engagement Professor Myriam Amielth said the collaboration is aimed at enriching student learning through exposure to a broader and richer range of technologies and digital tools.

“The partners will explore the use of immersive and holographic technologies to support health and education students in developing an appreciation of clinical and classroom scenarios,” she said.

The partners also plan to jointly develop a program of collaboration tools to bring innovation to telehealth and aged care.

The partnership will also involve Microsoft’s Women at Microsoft Employee Resource Group (ERG), to give an opportunity for the more than 70% of ACU students who are female to partner with the ERG. It will also involve the new Military at Microsoft ERG. The company’s ERGs are programs to give communities within Microsoft access to career development, networking and mentorship opportunities.
