Nominations open for Telstra Business Women's Awards
Telstra is calling for nominations for the 2020 Business Women’s Awards, recognising successful women in leadership across all sectors, including technology.
According to Honeypot’s 2018 Women in Tech Index, Australia has the second-highest number of women working in tech globally, with women making up 28% of the industry. Although this is an exciting achievement, Telstra believes there’s room for improvement.
To help promote workplace gender equality and advocate for women in business, Telstra launched the Business Women’s Awards, which are now in their 25th year.
“So much has changed for women in leadership over the past quarter of a century. They have broken down barriers and overcome obstacles,” Telstra Business Women’s Awards Ambassador and Group Executive Transformation and People Alex Badenoch said.
“While there is still much left to be done, every barrier to women in business that has been broken brings us a little closer to inclusion and equality.
“We want to continue to say thank you to those who have achieved so much, and continue to do so every day. These women are rewriting what it means to be successful and giving us more female leaders to look up to.”
During its 25 years, the awards have celebrated more than 3000 women in leadership, including Naomi Simson, founder of Red Balloon; Janine Allis, founder of Boost Juice; Carolyn Creswell, founder of Carman’s Fine Foods; and Maggie Beer AM.
Nominations can be submitted via the Telstra Business Women’s Awards website until Tuesday, 29 October.
