Seagate, Phison to launch new line of NVMe SSDs
Seagate and NAND flash controller provider Phison have announced an expanded partnership aimed at bolstering their joint portfolio of high-performance non-volatile memory express (NVMe) solid-state drives (SSDs) for enterprises.
The new SSDs will be designed to help enterprise customers lower total cost of ownership through increased storage density, lower power consumption and higher performance.
Seagate and Phison have meanwhile entered a long-term partnership aimed at strengthening the development cycle and distribution of enterprise-class SSDs.
The two companies have been collaborating on Seagate’s SATA SSD products since 2017, and also cooperated on the world’s first purpose-built network attached storage (NAS) NVMe SSDs.
This partnership will now evolve to focus on meeting the evolving global enterprise demand for higher-density, faster and smarter storage infrastructure capable of enabling enterprise applications such as hyperscale data centres, high-performance computing and AI, according to Seagate SVP of Business and Marketing Jeff Fochtman.
“We integrated Seagate’s 40-plus years of market-leading enterprise storage expertise with Phison’s nimble ability to create highly customised SSDs to meet the ever-evolving needs of the enterprise storage market,” he said.
“Seagate is extremely excited to work with Phison on developing advanced SSD technology. Our selective focus allows us to serve the broad performance-driven enterprise SSD market while continuing our leadership in the specialised premium gaming SSD segment.”
