Taskforce to facilitate business between NSW Govt, SMEs
The NSW Government has established an ICT and Digital Sovereign Procurement taskforce to facilitate government trade with SMEs in the ICT sector.
Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello said the taskforce would create diversity and equity in the digital and ICT service provider market, enabling more companies to engage and do business with government.
“It’s all about levelling the playing field and ensuring small and medium enterprises can compete on an equal footing,” Dominello said.
“The NSW Government has committed $1.6 billion to transforming government services and this investment will help local small and medium enterprises and start-ups to grow, building critical sovereign capability for the future here in NSW.”
Small Business Minister Damien Tudehope said the initiative would stimulate the local digital economy by looking at ways to increase spend on SMEs, Aboriginal organisations, disability enterprises and start-ups.
“We have the best small businesses in Australia right here in NSW who deliver amazing products and services and we should always be looking at ways to make sure these businesses are getting more government work,” Tudehope said.
The announcement builds on NSW Government initiatives such as Tech Central, Sydney Startup Hub and Western Sydney Aerotropolis — each designed to stimulate growth and investment in the technology space.
