USQ recognised for IT contribution
An academic at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) has been recognised for her contribution to the work of the IT industry.
Recognised by the IT Service Management Forum (itSMF), Professor of Information Systems Aileen Cater-Steel received a Lifetime Achievement Award for her high calibre of research undertaken into business needs.
Regarded as one of Australia’s leading experts in standards and governance, e-learning systems and outsourcing, Cater-Steel’s association with the industry has seen her involved in the rigorous development of courses and programs encompassing management of IT development and operations.
“Process-based service management frameworks have become the foundation upon which many organisations have improved their IT service delivery, governance and risk management capabilities,” she said.
“In bridging the practical needs of industry with the theoretical and academic demands of university-level teaching, graduates are now better equipped to meet head on the challenges of the IT environment and implement sustainable solutions to grow business and create better returns on investment.”
The itSMF industry organisation is part of a worldwide movement of professionals from more than 50 countries representing the interests of over 6000 organisations and 40,000 individual IT service managers from both the public and private sector.
