Dell enhances PowerMax storage range
Dell has announced enhancements to its PowerMax portfolio of enterprise storage solutions that aim to improve performance and cyber resiliency.
The latest release of PowerMax solutions introduces AI-powered dynamic cache optimisation to reduce latency and increase speed. The new release also claims an improved 92% RAID efficiency and new power and environmental monitoring capabilities.
Other new AI-driven capabilities include ongoing autonomous health checks to address issues such as storage capacity levels or loose cabling before they can pose problems, as well as automated network fabric performance optimisation to identify and help remediate fibre channel network congestion. The new release also introduces cyber recovery services for PowerMax as a new professional service, as well as multi-factor authentication based on YubiKey to enhance protection against unauthorised access.
Meanwhile, to improve multicloud agility, Dell has introduced options to move live PowerMax workloads to and from its APEX Block Storage cloud storage platform. The platform also offers new data protection capabilities that will enable users to choose backup destinations from major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
Finally, the latest release of the PowerMax OS promises to improve input/output operations per second (IOPS) performance while reducing latency for unbalanced mainframe workloads.
