Australian FinTech summit this week

Representatives of Australia's entire FinTech ecosystem will convene in Melbourne this week to discuss the latest regulatory and technology developments in the sector.

A key theme of FinTech Australia's first annual Collab/Collide summit will be the fine line between collaboration and competition in the FinTech industry.

Cutting-edge FinTech developments such as robo advice and blockchain, as well as innovations in data and alternative finance, will be explored. FinTech Australia will also use the event to launch the results of the first Australian FinTech Census.

The two-day summit will be held on 3–4 November and is being organised in partnership with LaunchVic. The first day will be open to the entire FinTech ecosystem — start-ups, large financial institutions, ecosystem partners, investors and government agencies.

The second day will be targeted at the start-up community and include roundtables, in-depth discussions, workshops and masterclasses.

Guest speakers include Treasurer Scott Morrison, Victoria’s Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade Philip Dalidakis, ASIC Commissioner Cathie Armour and FinTech Australia CEO Danielle Szetho.

Representatives from domestic and international FinTech industry players — including Onestack, Moula, Reinventure, the Open Bank Project, Dianrong, Novatti, Fincast and Tyro Payments — will also be presenting.

“We want Victoria to be the location of choice for start-ups across the Asia–Pacific region, and LaunchVic is making it happen,” Dalidakis said.

“FinTech Australia’s inaugural FinTech Summit will help young companies and ideas develop to create jobs and industries that will support Victoria for decades to come.”
