Fire & Rescue NSW, one of the world’s largest urban fire and rescue services, has deployed several EMC CLARiiON devices in a managed data centre. This has enabled the agency to double its storage efficiency and provide cloud services to other government agencies.

Rittal has added Intelligent Eco Mode controls to its air/water heat exchangers for increased energy efficiency. The Comfort units have cooling outputs of 500 to 5000 W and turn the fan off or on as needed, depending on the temperature in the enclosure. The company has also made improvements to assembly and water connections.

Rittal has launched the Extend modular safe with direct free cooling to provide users with economical and energy-efficient cooling, using outside air. The modular safe offers sensitive IT hardware system-tested protection against fire, smoke gases, fire extinguisher water, dust and unauthorised access. Alongside the servers and storage solutions, other components such as system controls, fire alarm and extinguisher system and busbars supplement the security safe and make up a fully equipped compact data centre.
